I took the summer off from consulting to a) spend more time with my daughter and b) to tackle some projects I’ve been itching to work on. On the music-side of things my big focus has been getting another guitar lesson out for Six String Recess. After a week of shooting, a week of video editing, another week of recording and mixing and various other bits of time I can’t quite account for, I finally finished this beast.

The result is a new lesson focused on Van Halen. I’ve played guitar for over 25 years and I’ve had many guitar-heroes over the years, but nobody has inspired me as much as Eddie Van Halen. I’ve listened to VH records for years and I never get tired of them. I often joke that if I ever end up in a coma, my family should play VH around the clock to bring me out of it.

With the summer coming to a close and my major goal completed, I suppose it’s time to “buckle-down” and pickup some serious consulting work. It’s a feeling I get every fall—probably as a result of typical American school schedule. The arrival of fall just feels like a signal to stop the frivolity and get “serious”.

Hopefully not too serious though.
